The Chinese government attempted to draw attention to the plight of this species by putting 15 of them on display at the world expo in Shanghai in 2010.

Unfortunately, according to a report in China's Global Times, all 15 animals died as a result of the hot weather and noisy environment.

The Chinese giant salamander

Status: Critically Endangered

Population: Once common across China, but has declined catastrophically over the past 30 years, according to the International Union for the Conservation of Nature. There are now very few animals in the wild.

Now because of the stupidity of the Chinese government, there are 15 less of this critically endangered species. Exactly what happens when humans try to intervene. Leave them the heck alone before there truly are NONE left.
