Agreed, it's horrific we're still seeing these levels of hatred and bigotry across so many fronts in 2022.

I understand some people grow up in a place where everyone is the same color and looks the same but there is still no excuse.

I feel fortunate to have grown up in a very diverse community. As a kid my neighbors, friends, teachers, etc were all different nationalities. Now that I am an adult its the same situation. Neighbors, friends, co-workers, supervisors are all different nationalities. We all co-exist just fine and embrace each other's cultures, even celebrate them!

I love that, it's exactly how it should be, celebrate diversity don't run from it! I've always grown up around people of different nationalities, religions, races and so on around me and I agree, it's wonderful learning about different cultures and taking the time to appreciate those differences!

Oh totally!!! When I was about 5 my friend from school was Pakistani and every time I went to his house the smell of the food was just intense!! Getting to taste these incredible things I had never seen or heard of...wow! Opens your mind right up at that age!

Their food is good and tasty, but it sure does have a strong smell! :run:

Most definitely! Indian and Pakistani food are extremely strong smelling, but they're unbelievably tasty!

One of my best friends growing up was from Fiji, couldn't hang out at his apartment for long because his mom was always cooking and that smell was always there. They eventually bought a house and put an oven in their garage, did all the cooking out there .... then things were okay. :P

That's a pretty genius solution, but I grew to like the smell of the foods, lol, it became like aromatherapy :D

I had a Portuguese co-worker who did the same thing, he actually had a pretty elaborate kitchen set up in his garage. It was nicer than the one inside the house. Lol

Oh I can imagine it'd be pretty incredible! You get the chance to build the kitchen how you want it, rather than how it came with the house, so you can do whatever you want! Must be fantastic!

Yeah he was pretty handy, he could do anything. His house was a dump when he bought it and he renovated the whole thing himself. I lost touch with him after he retired and I heard he passed away recently. He was a cool guy.

Oh that's tragic! But what an amazing person to be able to take a house and make it his home in his vision. Wonderful skills to have!

Yup, he left his kids a great place to live. I heard his son is currently raising his family in that house.
