growing up, you had to try new food. you could never say you "hate" something... especially if you've never tasted it before. and "hate" is a really strong emotion. ya can't hate food... unless somehow it has done something terrible to you or loved ones.

didn't like shrimp as a kid, but dad DID. didn't like medium rare steak as a kid, but Dad DID. so glad Dad insisted on experiencing different foods.

3 foods i've tried several times to like... with no luck. oysters (in any form), liver and sardines... not together. can't say i hate any of them... just haven't found the right recipe yet, maybe.

when i hear that Durean fruit smells like rotting meat... i don't hate it, just not trying it. same for something like balut. can't say i hate them... cuz have never tried them. that's illogical... who said that??

something like balut
Those are quite popular in some cultures; but I've never tried one. I think I'd have to be nearly totally nutritionally deprived. Kind of makes me gag even watching people eat them; WAY worse than raw oysters. I love fried oysters, but never 'on the halfshell'.

I call myself a garbage disposal because I can eat almost anything. :D

I think I was when I was younger, but now I feel I'm more open to trying new things. There are a few foods, however, that I just don't like (tomatoes, mushrooms...)

I make picky eaters seem quite varied in their diets

if it doesn't come from the golden arches, KFC or burger king, or if it's not candy, I'm not interested.

I try to eat fruit but 9 times out of 10 I don't enjoy it

I won't eat pasta, cake, any desserts, veg, salad, ice cream (though I'm alergic so have an excuse), nuts, sandwiches, the list goes on

i have a theory about why some might dislike certain foods. NOT saying you... just sayin. there are some food (mainly veggie) that some people dislike and i suspect it's because they've only ever had canned versions. canned mushrooms, asparagus, peas and several others have little/no resemblance to the fresh or even frozen version.

Absolutely true for me! As a child I hated the taste of spinach & asparagus, always canned & was never 'exposed' to the raw or very slightly-cooked versions. Now I totally enjoy these things. :)

I'm still somewhat of a picky eater. There's a lot of things that I still won't eat. It took me forever as a kid before I ever liked Chinese food and even with that I'm somewhat limited in my choices.

Not picky at all .
What i don't eat are very few and that's because bother me and make me a little sick
I eat all the vegetables .... i like all the same what make some to like more is the dish not the ingredient because i eat and like all.
legumes the only i will not eat are chickpeas but if a dish have one here and there i will eat it ..... the rest of legumes i like all again
i can have all the meat the one that are what most people eat like pork, lamb , goat, chicken, beef...

the only left that make it hard is because of the cheese that goes in a lot of dishes make it harder to eat some dishes but if you remove that
I'm a person that eat almost everything

ahh nice to see it is not just me .. still i will eat if i been offer that in a house but i will not cook this myself
the only thing i hate is when you get a mixed bean (canned )always they got chickpeas and a lot of them

Yeah I am. I'm of the one and done kind. Try it once and that's it if I don't like it. I hate liver with a passion, mushrooms can take a hike along with beets. Not a fan of beans either.
