Arm The Teachers?

With all the school shootings happening, do you think the teachers should be armed?

Why / Why not?

Just think of the outrage when an armed teacher intervenes when some nut starts shooting up a school and kills the perpetrator.

Then the panting liberals in the media will start talking about how we've trained our teachers to kill instead of teach the children.

They would rather blame the firearms for the deaths and have a couple of thousand soft targets around the country just waiting for the next massacre.

School violence happens on a small scale, there are millions of schools out there that never had to deal with this problem. So I don't think we're at that point yet. Maybe schools should focus more on preventing bullying, ridicule and dealing the with problems that might push a kid over the edge.

Or are the State Schools the first best solution to that?

And you think this preventative action will solve all the problems? What happens when the shooter goes after the teacher first and gains another gun to use against everyone?

Not unless you actually bother to train said teachers to use their weapons... and make sure they aren't insane or some such.

Simply put - no.

There have been numerous school shootings, but the answer isn't for bringing guns into schools, and considering the fact that all teachers aren't genius', a lot are, but a lot of them are of average intelligence, I wouldn't trust them with guns anyways.

Interesting to read that because it happens on such a " small scale " and given the fact it's really only a few schools this happens too considering the number of schools, i guess arming the teachers or arming the caretaker arming the school security guards would be a rather pointless not to mention costly endeavour.
But i often wonder just how some peoples position on topics like this would change if it was a loved one of their gunned down.
I'm thinking the call for " heads to roll " would be deafening. But it's usually the way things play out isn't it ?

I am for training and arming teachers.

I am also for allowing college students who are law abiding to carry a firearm.

I choose to go to online school simply because I cannot carry in a campus-based school.

However, I can't carry anything currently because I am in Illinois. I plan on moving to KY next year, it will be nice to finally live in the USA

So, you agree then that maintaining schools as 'soft targets' where the Bad Guys are the only ones with lethal weapons is the best of all possible solutions.
