For those of you from other countries who would like to know about Britain or the UK, you can ask your questions in this thread and someone from the UK will be sure to answer it for you.

Do you all like your free health care? Is everything 500 years old?

I think the national health service(NHS) is pretty good mate.

No, not everything is 500 years old, some things, such as Stonehenge for instance are much older being built around 2800 B.C. So that makes it almost 5,000 years old.

I'm not 500 years old either lol.

Well your country is very old unlike ours which is only a couple hundred years old. If we see something that is 100 or 200 years old, its ancient.. Those same things would probably seem new to you guys.

I do see your point mate and I guess you're right. One of the local churches just up the road from me, dates back to the 1200's. There are many megalithic sites around the UK that are incredibly old.

Britain is thought to have been inhabited since around 4,000BC.

The following link is quite interesting.

If I were to plan a holiday to the UK, where would you suggest I go?

That would be hard to say. There's plenty of gorgeous countryside to enjoy here. You could go to the Lake district and the Yorkshire moore's, if you like the wildnerness. For the seaside, Cornwall is one of the places to go, along with Whitby. Towns, there's London and such.

England has a place for everyone. I'm sure other people'll add to this(who are from the UK).

I'm not from the UK, but what I've personally enjoyed a lot was Cornwall, because of the beautiful cliffs and such and London, which is quite possibly my favourite town to go to on a city trip. The weather isn't always wonderful though XD.

The phrase British makes me cringe. You're nationality is either English, Welsh, Scottish or Northern Irish. Not all 4.

Is the stereotype that Americans are just idiots pertain to you and the people in your everyday life?

What is it about Americans that your country doesn't like?

It seems EVERY country besides Mexico (it has it's reasons lmao), think poorly of Americans because there is a stereotype that we all sit on our asses everyday and we all eat McDonalds everyday, and we are all extremely overweight.

That is the most typical stereotypes about Americans, such as I. But they fail to say that we are the strongest country in the world, but have some pretty stupid people in our government. I strongly disagree with staying in the war, by the way.

Americans are full of themselves. We are the best country ever.

On Xbox Live I've been told to speak English I was like what. the. fuck. I'm from the freakin' country.

Constant accent stereotypes in TV & films of English people, no one sounds like that.

Uhmm, lots of other stuff I can't think of right now, but there is a lot of dislike for Americans here.

That's rather sad to read. Wasn't it you who asked what places in America would be the best places to live in? Wasn't it you who said you and your friends wanted to move here in a few years? Do you buy anything that is American made?

Do you know that we Americans were not all born and bred here? How can you stereotype all Americans as thinking we are full of ourselves?

Oh come on, the US as a country meddles in everyone's affairs, that bound to come over as arrogant. Hey we are the strongest country in the world, do as we say or we'll attack you. I do realise that's incredibly simplified, but it comes over like that a lot.

I agree with this.

That is a HUGE stereotype that Americans are so full of themselves.

Yeah, maybe the idiots. Do you know how many idiots there are? A lot. There are so many stupid people. But there are SO many smart people who make up for them and make this country what it is.

It is fact that the USA is the strongest country in the world.

It is opinion that Americans are so full of themselves.

Yes, we may brag about some things, but so what? Others can brag about things about their country; such as winning the world cup.

This thread was meant for folks to ask about the UK etc, not to start bashing Americans. Is there any chance we could get back on topic here?
