At what point does "Human" life begin?

Historically there have been societies that regarded children as something less than fully human, in some cases, until they're weaned.



In that light, why not allow the killing of babies until they're say, two years old?

Because babies can live on the earth outside of another of their species. They have developed all the parts of a human and can breath on their own. If given milk and later food they can survive entirely on their own.

A human can be alive without any or not much of a brain function, the heart needs to be working though...

you need brain function to have your heart beat with little yes none no
