Hi Friends,

I have attended the funerals of my father's younger brothers, in our community we burn the dead body. After burning the dead body we took bath at funeral place with wel water and return to home with wet cloths.

That's an interesting tradition. I'll have to look it up and read more about it. I've only been to one funeral, though. It was for the mother of my brother's best friend, and it was very sad.

funerals are the saddest thing in one's life. I went to a friend's funeral for his dad who passed on. we didn't like each other for longtime.. a personal disagreement .. but we reconciled our bantering after funeral

I always admire those cultures who celebrate funerals in terms of it being a celebration of life. Our culture is so hellbent on making funerals sad and dark and dreary that death is something we fear, not a part of life. When it's a part of life, while it is still a serious experience, it is just that--a part of life we are all going to come to at some point. I personally feel that we should still celebrate, but it should be a celebration of life and just another part of existing here on earth in some other form.
