Avandia ( http://www.avandia.com/ ) - a diabetes medication continues to remain on the market despite the fact that there are increased risks for heart failure, heart attacks, strokes, and death, and other complications.

What's your view on this notice?

I don't like the fact that Avandia is still on the market despite the current research and data, but I understand that for some people their blood sugar will only be controlled by Avandia.

All medications have risks. As long as the patient is informed of the risks then they are free to take it. If it kills them, then they should have known it was going to do that before they started taking it.

Well not taking any medication isn't going to help diabetes, is it? The effects of the drugs and the effects of no drugs cancel each other out and you end up stuck between a rock and a hard place.

After the 2 day review, it's been decided that the diabetes drug Avandia is going to remain on the market, but it's unknown at this time if it will carry stronger warnings.

At first I was kind of hoping it would be banned but then I thought: for some people, this may be the only medication that works to keep their blood sugar in control, so I'm glad that it's still available for at least those people.
