To show support for that cause and to remember the victims of events.





I myself, have a NYPD 9/11 Memorial Pin. Will be looking for a pink ribbon this year too.

I have a breast cancer ribbon pinbadge on my bag. And i wear a poppy when its poppy day. I found it really sad last year, hardly anyone wore the poppy. Its not just rememberance for world war 1 and 2. But of the current war too.



I have a breast cancer ribbon because my mum has had it.

Well, I get the remembering and support but it seems a bit like showing off just how much you care

It's fairly easy. Parable time!

There once was a politician who wanted to get elected. He went to a lot of events to show his (potential) voters just how much he cared. The end. (sorry, couldn't resist)

Anyhow, it does illustrate the point, one could just do all these things to appear good in the eyes of their peers (not saying any of you're doing this, of course).

Also, more of often than not, the money you spend on the pin goes to the cause you are supporting. So it's a win-win situation.
