Just come home from what has to be the most s**tiest day ever!

I was supposed to be getting my new phone today as my old one doesnt charge.

But at 10am I was called into a meeting room for what I thought was a 1 on 1 with my manager to discuss my progress. No! It was to tell me that temps are being axed!

So I have just over a week left at Aviva, then I am back to being unemployed. After coming up for 2 years with the company.

So now i'll have to live off £47 a week.. Half of that will go to my mum.

In 2 weeks I am playing at a festival but the band are getting no money from it. So that is £60 petrol + Food and drink out of my dwindling bank account.

My bass lessons have gone out the window.

I hope that my agency can find me another job quickly. But with the current job situation in this country I don't think that is likely!

The economy is so bad all over and companies are being forced to lay off people. It's not their fault but people, like you Samcro, suffer from it. They say to update your resume and send it out even when you have a job. I used to do that and I got a better opportunity and left the company I was working for. I was there for over 5 years but was not getting promotions so I decided to move on. The bottom line was I was always looking even when I was employed.

Can you not ask your mum to give you some time to find another job and pay her by doing things around the house or running errands?

As far as the festival is concerned, can you not car pool with another band member to save on the petrol? Are you not allowed to bring your own food and drink with you to cut the cost of having to buy it there?

Lastly, I would not depend on the agency alone to find a job for you. Hit the wants ads and use the internet to find companies that are hiring. There are jobs out there just might not be what you want but at least they pay the bills until you find something beter. You need to set spending priorities now and tighten your belt.

Good luck but I'm a firm believer that things happen for a reason. You may not feel that way now but believe me, they do.

I am going to my agency tomorrow to tell them. I will also look for jobs myself.

My mum will have to have what I give her, I can't give her what I don't have so will just have to see.

As for the festival. We are taking 2 cars, Mine and Jo's both cars will be full.

I will be taking my own food and a crate of beer with me.

Its not the layoff that has upset me really its the timing. I can't start a new job now till beginning of July at the earliest :/ then I am going to another festival a month later.. that won't go down well with most employers.

I have spent a lot of time as a temp and I know how it sucks to be one sometimes.

2 years is such a long time to work as a temp somewhere!

Sorry to hear your news and I hope you get sorted out really soon.

I don't want to sound mean but where are your priorities? Are they with the band or are they with making money? Does the band pay your mum or for every day things you need? Sure being in the band, I understand, it something you enjoy but it doesn't supply you with money to support yourself. Sorry if I over stepped my bounds here but I just don't understand this

Music is my life, always has been, We are making money from gigs. Sunday I got £50 from playing 2 and a half hours. We are doing 2 weddings this year aswell as small festivals around England.

I know I can't live purely off that at the moment, but that is what I want to do eventually.

Not being able to start till July isnt to do with the band, It's to do with my Jury service.

Are you allowed an excuse from jury duty? For instance if you start a new job, would your new employer be able to write a note to get you excused? Just wondering also if you get paid for jury duty like we do here in the US.

I was excused last year, Can't be excused more than once.

I would have got money to compensate for loss of earnings, but I'm not sure what happens now, It's something I'll be discussing with my agency.

Im sorry you lost your job. I suppose it would be worse if it wasnt a temporary job and you lived on your own. Good thing you didnt move out when you said you were going to a while back.

Hope the temp agency hooks you up with another job and you impress those people so they hire you on full time.

Thank goodness you didn't move out
