The Placer County Sheriff's Department is crediting an observant security guard with saving the life of a newborn baby.

Officials have arrested Thuan Nguyen and Panfila Pho Phan on suspicion of leaving their 7-week-old baby in a car while they gambled at Thunder Valley Casino.

Deputies say the baby was left alone for 2 1/2 hours.

The child is expected to be OK, and the parents are being held on $50,000 bail.

I gripe at people when I see them run into a mini mart while leaving their child in the car. Even if they lock the doors and are watching the car through the store windows the entire time. There are no excuses to leave children alone in public.

Yes, Ive seen it SEVERAL times around here.

A lot of people have no real idea just how hot a car can get even with all windows left open.

A car can turn into the equivalent of a turned on oven when left out in the sun. IMO people who do this should have the book thrown at them because I rather have the lesson taught first instead of waiting for a tragedy to happen first.

Not only that, the baby is only 7 weeks old!

They get hungry like every hour at that age.

Stories like this just make me so angry

For crap sake this is a 7 week old baby that probably would have died if it weren't for that security guard. I hope they take this baby away from these low lifes who don't deserve to be parents.

I totally agree with Jazzy! If they can't look after the baby then they should have put it up for adoption, or never had one in the first place.
