Backlinks

Anybody use backlinks? How do they differ from Affiliate Exchanges? Do they perform the same function? Is one more beneficial than the other?
I’ve only done Affiliate Exchanges but have recently learned about backlinks.

Have you used a backlinks checker to see your results?

I have added links to all sites that I'm a member of or on. Helps but doesn't mean you get people clicking on them.

I'm pretty sure affiliate and backlinks are the same, so long as they aren't put in to be blocked.

I wouldn't know how to do that lol I don't know if it can be done on a free Proboards forum. Anybody know?

They're pretty much the same yeah, affiliates often have the little graphic buttons instead of a pure link though, so I think they're slightly better in a "word-of-mouth" manner, whereas backlinks are better for keyword-focused SEO

I used to do this. I noticed it eats up my time. So, I decided to stop doing it for now.
