Today me and my lil one were going to the zoo.. I was on the freeway and my tire exploded.. I was going about 75 MPH too.. Luckily I didnt lose control of the car.. I pulled over and the tire was totally distroyed. I was riding on the rim.. Anyways I get the car over to the side of the road.. I open my trunk only to be reminded that I had my jack and tire iron in the backyard at home.. Stupid place to put it!! I was helping my neighbor because he had a flat and I didnt put the stuff back in my car. So I get my phone to call a friend to come help me out but I had no service!! I figure the only thing left to do was to start walking.. Me and my lil one get out and are walking on the side of the freeway and get to the exit.. Walk down the exit and there is nothing around.. No stores or anything. I thought to myself Im screwed... While walking back this lady pulls over and tells me that she will call the highway patrol for me.. So she calls them and leaves.. I continue walking and someone else pulls over as well.. This guy had a jack but his tire iron would not fit on my tire's bolts.. So we just start flagging down people.. Some lady pulls over and had the right size! So I use the guys jack and the lady's tire iron and I put on my spare.. When I got done with that, the CHP (highway patrol) pulls up and we told him that we had it all taken care of.. So then I continue on to Oakland and look for a place that sells tires... The only place I could find was firestone.. They charged me $93 for a stupid tire! I had to do it because I wasnt going to drive home on that tiny donut spare tire. After that we stopped at Mc Donalds for lunch... We ate and I could not find my keys anywhere! They werent in the car, they werent in my pockets, they werent at the table I was eating at... I didnt leave them at the front counter.. The only place I could think to look was the trash can where I threw away my food wrappers.. I pull the trash can out and was digging through it (which was embarrassing, but I didn't really care at that moment). Luckily they were in there but they were covered in ketchup... I washed them off and was on my way. After that we finally make it to the Oakland zoo only to discover that it was going to close in an hour (it closed at 4pm) so we didnt even get to do what we left the house to go do!

Instead we went to San Fransisco (which is just across the bridge).. We went ice skating. After that we ate at the Rainforest Cafe (a restaurant that looks like a jungle inside with animatronic elephants, snakes, apes and fake plants all over the walls/roof, waterfalls, aquariums, etc etc.. its really cool).. After that we walked around the warf and looked at the boats and water and whatnot... Then went home. The 1st part was really unlucky but the 2nd part was ok.

All I can say is...

Sorry.

I mean, you could been killed today. I'm sorry you weren't. (jokes)

Must have been really scary at the time and really embarrassing, especially on the freeway with hundreds of people driving past laughing.

I doubt anyone was driving past me laughing, unless they are a soulless jerk.. Its not funny to see someone stranded. Thats why a few people were nice enough to stop and help.

That's right.... a few. Of all the hundreds that sped past, only a few stopped and offered help. What a cruel cruel world.

Whatever dude.. you are the one who replied to this post laughing. I didnt post anything funny.

Dude? That's something I hardly ever hear, probably because the New Zealand equivalent is 'bro'.

That was pretty unlucky, but it is good to know that there are people that will stop what they're doing to help somebody in need. Well, at least you managed to make a good day out of all of the bad luck, and it sounds like you and your daughter ended up having fun.

Personally, I would have been clueless.

Why shouldnt I.. Ive had worse luck before.

That does sound like a nightmare, especially with your lil one with you, but what a great ending to the day

Sorry to hear you had such a rotten day. At least it ended up alright at the end.

That's terrible. It's a wonder your lil one wasn't scared. That would have made it worse. Nothing like a scared 6 year old with you when you are having a run of luck like that.

But I'll bet she liked the rainforest cafe....sounds like a really cute place.

sorry to hear about your day but at least the ending was great

Damn, I had a bit of bad luck today too. Firstly, I woke up and found that my glasses were broken, so I took them to get them fixed at the optometrist, but they said they would have to send them away for 3 weeks... that was not an option - I need them now! So I took them to a jeweler who managed to get them fixed relatively cheaply. Still have to get my braces fixed as well... but they can wait another few days.

Karma.. perhaps if you weren't such a jerk to me in this thread, Karma wouldn't have got you. Lol

No need to be so offensive.... It was my fault anyway.

She was scared.. She was crying most of the time and disappointed that we didnt get to go to the zoo (she loves the zoo).. So I took her ice skating and out to eat at a fun place so that made up for a crappy start to the day.
