This is just an insight from my experience working retail and customer service, but today people are being nice. I often find that some people can be just downright rude to employees when being nice would've gotten them so much further. Do you guys often see this? Is it warranted in any situation?

Yes, people lacking in manners is very common. The worst ones are people who don't bathe and smell like fucking ass. Walking around smelling like that is probably the rudest thing in the book to do. Well, other than walking around naked. But it is the most degrading rather than have someone be verbally rude towards you.

Yeah you catch more flies with honey. Being a jerk to people severely limits the options you have in any given situation.

I find this in many kinds of situations: retail stores, restaurants, etc. I can understand being irritated or upset by something, but getting mad at the employee isn't going to help much in the way that everyone is going to win. Typically, if you approach a situation with an understanding and nice behavior.

Although some people can realize when a situation wont improve at all so the gloves come off. I've seen some real bitch fits in public, in my day.
