Why do people when people talk about getting banned or banning someone they use the term

hit with a ban hammer



Where is this hammer? Ive never seen one in an ACP or on a forum.

I've heard people say this before on forums, and I honestly think it's just kind of a metaphore, like everyone else has said. I had a friend who was a forum administrator, and when it came to talking about banning someone, he'd always say something like, time to get the banhammer out, me thinks! It's kind of a funny word, actually.
