banning users...??

I'm trying to keep a clean site. That was just posted yesterday. It is way too inappropriate. Should I ban the user and or ip plus delete the post?? Or just warn them we don't allow that kinda photos and garbage?? Not sure what I should do.

Funny how that user put that in your Rant Room: One idea to have a rant / spam area. It gives people a place to vent and won't ruin your site with junk.



What's your site rule against self promotion and posting inappropriate pictures?



If this were my forum this person would be banned in a heartbeat. I'll give the person credit, they saw the words spam area and went and posted spam

Actually I moved it there. I thought it would be better temporarily. I allow spam. But clean spam only. It says no nudity in this thread.

Actually everything goes straight to general discussion not sure why. Nobody is using the rant room even though that is why it was made. General was never meant for spam. That is why the rant room was created.

Thats just a spam bot. Delete the account.

No sense in banning a spam bot because there is millions of IP's and they can keep coming forever.



I always delete spam bots because I dont want the member count here to be a false number.

Keep it clean. No nudity or violence please. Keep it all ages friendly.



I found his/her post in violation of the keep it clean and keep it all ages friendly. The picture used wasn't of a nude or violent nature. IMO, if you allow spam then you just are leaving yourself open to what you're dealing with right now. Since you admit you allow it then I change my original opinion of banning the user. I now think this person should be issued a warning and the post deleted. If you want my honest opinion, I think this was a hit and run and this person probably did this same thing on several other forums as well.

Maybe I should write new rules. Or change the forum focus as another thread here suggested.

I would say that your rules are very vague and you should tighten them up. Or, like you said, change the forum focus.
