I have been thinking sometimes to do an battle of the boards/awards contest. Where many forums sign in and compete with their staff and members to compete in various challenges and win prizes. The best board would win some cash or other prizes. It would be a seasonal event held once a year.

Never tried it but I might sometime next year if there is a demand. I’d like to ask for some feedback if this would be welcome nowadays.

Would your forum be big enough for this?

It does sound like a cool idea.

I don’t know. Probably not. But I guess hyping up, advertising before it starts, decent prizes and contacting many forum owners will certainly help to attract participants.
If you do go through with it hope it works out for you :)

One of the forums I used to run the community side of, GameWinners, did something like this within the different forums of the board itself, the eLympics. They'd have different active members of the different forums making up the teams, competing against one another in essentially posting competitions and trivia games to earn 'medals,' and the top three forums 'won.' It was fun, if something like that could happen within a single community or if a group of communities got together to compete against one another it could be a lot of fun. Would take a LOT of work to setup, run and keep fair, though. Probably need a dedicated separate community just for that event.
