Points wise there's no question it was Gretzky. No one even comes close, but in terms of skill and talent I think you have to look at guys like Maurice Richard, Mario Lemieux, Mike Modano, Alex Ovechkin, Connor McDavid and yeah, even Sidney Crosby (I'd throw Erik Lindros in there, too, but his career was cut so short because of concussions). All absolutely amazing players who could probably challenge Gretzky's skill. Gretzky will never be dethroned as the greatest ever, and rightfully so, he was an absolute machine on the ice, but there are guys with just as much talent who have played and either had injury issues and therefore didn't play as many games or played in an era where point production was down a lot from Gretzky's era.
