As a staff member on a forum, what is your biggest frustration?

As a regular member on a forum, what is your biggest frustration?

Trying to come up with contest ideas and new thread topics. Thank goodness we have an excellent staff team here who are always willing to brainstorm with me as sometimes my brain just doesn't want to work.

Trying to come up with new topics more than anything, and that's both as a staff member and as a user!

I agree with both above me. New topic ideas are hard!! It feels like everything's been discussed to the death and beyond haha

I think building and maintaining a consistent and sizable active user population is the biggest frustration, both in management and in being a part of an online forum community. When there's no one to really talk to, nor nothing to really talk about, it then kills the purpose of having a forum in the first place. The users can generate the content, and with a large enough of a consistently active population, the environment should be self-sustaining, with the management needing only to steer a little here and there, not actually be the life support of the forum.

Finding interesting stuff to post can be frustrating, I don't usually promote through anything but my sig.

As a normal member my biggest frustration is quite often flood control.

I agree about the flood control! And MyBB has this by default! So usually right when I find this out is I automatically make a feedback thread asking if they can at least lower the waiting time between posts if nothing else. Not everyone has time to post on a forum all day, so flood control can be seriously frusterating for all parties involved.

Long ones can be tedious but short ones can be very annoying 'cause I tend to keep hitting that submit button

Anything over ~5 seconds is probably going to bother me sooner or later. :/

I know. My biggest pet peeve is going to submit a post, and you get that babble that you must wait so many minutes or seconds before you can make another post. This especially pisses me off if I don't have time to wait around all day to be able to submit just one post. To be perfectly honest, flood control, no matter what the time limit, is just downright annoying.

My biggest frustration with running a forum is the technical work (installing updates / upgrades / new modifications / editing skins / even did a couple software conversions in my day).. Its all a lot of work and often times nothing ever goes right. Once you think you got everything squared away, you discover some new issue.

As a member I get frustrated watching others basically get away with murder and nothing ever happens to them.. BUT the moment I say or do something that could be deemed questionable by someone, I get the 3rd degree. Thats only on a small percentage of forums Ive been on though.

As a forum member, I have no frustrations. I have such limited fun time online that if I don't like a place, I just leave. No big sorry goodbyes, etc., just up and out. There are millions of boards ...

As a mod, the main frustrations I have are when 2 friends get into it and I'm supposed to mediate without hurting anyone's feelings. Well, sometimes that's impossible.
