That I can agree with you on. I'd rather just have small fees taken out for public schools and the police & hospital system to keep those afloat. If they did that to every working person in the state, there would be no need for personal property tax. They'd probably make more in a year doing that than they would just making everyone pay one big lump sum on their property towards the end of the year.
No. No. No. Religion needs to take a back seat to politics. If they did that they'd have to allow Islam's Sharia Law and every other fucked up religious ritual that is considered illegal in the entire nation. We'd be taking a step back into the dark ages. That is why we have Separation from Church and State.
Government cannot establish a state religion nor can they prohibit the exercise of religion within the public sphere within the bounds of the law.
One of the greatest atrocities of history has been the merging/melding together of civic and religious power; the 1st Amendment's religious clauses were the first time the two were explicitly separated by force of law
To an extent they don't allow many things. One example being is that they don't allow human sacrifices being done by pagans. It would be mighty bad if someone you cared about got abducted and sacrificed to Odin or whichever deity and the excuse was "It's my religion".
When you think about it, property taxes is basically like paying rent to your landlord. If you don't pay your rent then you get kicked out and if you don't pay your property taxes then you get kicked out. Makes you wonder if you really ever owned that property at all or if it is all an illusion with the only difference being who your landlord is.
I wish I didn't have to pay that extra "rent" ... My property taxes are $5000 a year which is an extra $450 a month I have to pay on top of my mortgage payment.
It goes up every year too. Last year it was $4900 and this year it was $5100.... Wonder how much its going to be next year?
If this year taught us anything, it's that: 1) Workers keep America going, not billionaires. 2) Corporate profits don't trickle down to workers. 3) Poverty is a policy choice. 4) Health care is a human right. 5) Strikes work. I hope we act on these lessons in the new year.

Did I claim somewhere that billionaires kept America going? You are supporting Biden who is DESTROYING the lives of the working poor, working class and middle class pursing his ridiculous policies causing rampant inflation. Oh and BIDEN is creating a whole lot MORE poverty. So, yes HIS policies are CREATING much more poverty. Groceries here are out of sight and only getting worse .
Health care as a "human right", do you think Doctors and nurses are your slaves? You don't own the labor of a physician. Could we do much better in regards to healthcare? Yes we could
They do, especially in this day & age when nobody wants to work. The employees have the power right now, sadly most are too afraid to use the power they have, either that or they are unaware that they have any power to begin with.
