Ive ran a couple on Tumblr before. I can be fun for a while but then it gets boring and pointless if nobody is reading your blog.

As a former newspaper columnist/features writer who had an editor(s) looking over his shoulder.....

Question:

While a "Web Logger" has the entire world as 'his' audience, who is verifying or validating anything 'he' says? Is 'he' required by any sort of authority to substantiate any claim or to label anything said as opinion rather than fact? Who certifies claims or charges made as to their veracity?

While I will defend 'bloggers' as a type of media (PRESS by the First Amendment) against the attacks of various politicians who find their own shorts getting itchy in the world of the "new media" I do have to ask where these new members of the Fourth Estate are coming from.

And no. I have NEVER "blogged".
