A word we've all heard or seen. Sometimes it can be used as a tool for helping, other times it can be misused as a weapon.

Where does the line cross? What are your views on yourself being blunt or others? Do we use it as an excuse to hurt?

It's based on the person. Some people just don’t handle bluntness as well as others do. While some people might appreciate your honesty and interpret it as constructive criticism, other people may take your feedback negatively and chalk it up as you being overly rude.

I represent blunt but my way of thinking it's best to be up front than to be Mary poppins to ones face
then when he/she has there back turned to be a bloody Satan.

People on the forums who speak to me on the phone realize that I certainly don't represent
Cruella.

Depends on the situation. I ask myself "will being upfront and brutally honest help me or hurt me in this situation?" ...and depending on my assessments, I'll act accordingly.

All I have to say is thank god my wife can handle my bluntness on all things. When she asks what do you think about this blouse she knows it is going to be blunt answer of approval or disapproval. And surprisingly she keeps coming back for more. LOL! But then we agree on far more then not. I am just horrible at trying to fake such things so I choose bluntness for all things.

It comes down to showing respect for the other persons feelings. If the bluntness is to be helpful and constructive then I am all for it, but if it is to be cutting and hurtful then forget it.

More so on the internet I've seen it as a weapon, a very effective on in the way of drama. I agree with many points on here. There seems to be many levels, from constructive to down right mean for the sake of being mean. Some people do take it to heart, letting it make them sad or want to retaliate. Though, thinking on it.. Its just someone's opinion... "No, honey that outfit is just terrible on you"

I may not be making much sense, I haven't had coffee yet so my mind is still snoozing while my fingers are on autopilot.
