Thousands of British schoolchildren are to be given lessons in resilience amid claims they have gone soft and fail to cope with failure, it has emerged.
Teachers across London are being given specialist training in order to help their pupils adequately manage personal setbacks and life pressures.
Personal coaches, dubbed ââ¬Åbounce backââ¬Â experts, are set to be hired by about 60 schools across the capital, with 15 so far signing up to the lessons for their teachers.
Chris Jones, Founding Director of the Young Foundation's Resilience project, which is coordinating the training, said pupils needed to learn how to better cope with failure.
The training days, costing just under ã200, will be led by resilience expert Dr Toni Noble, of the Bounce Back! programme in Australia.
The scheme was welcomed by head teachers who said teenagers had been overprotected and now struggled to deal with unprecedented difficulties such as the recession and youth unemployment.
