Science shows that the part of the brain associated with reward is more stimulated in men than women, during video game play. Hence men are more likely to become addicted. Does this also imply that men enjoy them more than girls? Perhaps but not proven.

It's pretty hard to not find numerous examples of female players being harassed in games if they reveal themselves, especially if the game is generally male dominated such as an FPS game.
