I used to regard Broccoli Stems as throw-away or goat food.
But, have you ever tried eating them just sliced & raw? Not the 'woody' part, but the more tender, crunchy part.
Or sliced & nuked just a bit with a little butter & salt; or sliced small & added to stir-fry?
I don't throw them away any more. :)

Steam them like you would broccoli florets but for longer.

I always include the broccoli stems in my cooking. If the stems are too thick, just slice them thinner so they cook at the same rate as the rest of the broccoli. I find they add great texture and flavour, and to be honest, I prefer them more to eat :dance2:

Yes, as long as they're not super long. I don't mind them and have tried to force myself to eat them more. They're perfectly edible. I think it's just a texture thing for me.
