Butterflies are notable for their unusual life cycle with a caterpillar stage, an inactive pupal stage, and a spectacular metamorphosis into a familiar and colourful winged adult form. Most species are day-flying so they regularly attract attention. The diverse patterns formed by their brightly colored wings and their erratic yet graceful flight have made butterfly watching a hobby.

What do you think about these lil creatures?

They're really creepy...I don't know, the way they flap around, the heat they can endure, and their little...feet. I went into a butterfly house once and I'm afraid I must have killed a billion of them accidentally. They're nice to look at, from a distance, but as a rule I don't much like insects.

Beautiful, peaceful part of nature. We raised them as caterpillars at school, and it was really cool seeing a worm-like insect turn into a butterfly that is so pretty and colorful. Hard part was letting them loose...
