Call from boss while you are at vacation

I've never actually had a boss call me while I was on vacation, however when I worked in retail I did have my boss call me in on my day off. I just ignored those calls, there's a reason why I took the day off and whatever the issue is it could be taken care of by other people. I suppose it does depend on your job though too.

if this happens I would politely explain things to my boss. I will tell him I'm far away and can't honor the invitation

I have never received any calls from my boss during my vacation. If s(he) really did that, I would pick up the call because it must be something urgent or s(he) needs my help.
