What an idiot. Cat fur is highly toxic to birds due to having flea repellants and shampoos in it.

It's a neat idea, but there are definitely risks to birds doing that

I wonder how prevalent that is to use toxic potions on cats any more - maybe 50/50? , especially long-haired cats. I learned from a vet long ago to never use a flea collar on a long-haired cat; they absorb the poison through their skin & it will make them sick. The outside cats/mousers I had when we lived in the stix were given a very small annual injection of Ivermectin to ward off internal and external parasites. Don't know how much of that might transfer over to birds.
The indoor cats I have now don't really need any of those potions because they don't 'mingle'.
But I'm not collecting their hair & "feeding" it to the birds either.
