Cecily Strong Remarks at the White House Correspondents Dinner

According to many of the audience clips, many in the audience were extremely uncomfortable with her comments.

Must mean she did a good job. She hit a home-run with her, 'That's like a group of politicians telling me what I can do with my body' line.

The discomfort obviously stems from the fact that a lot of people in that room believe it is up to the government to decide what you can and can't do with your body. Hilarious!

She had a couple of good lines but overall not to funny. And there is a fine line between being funny and revolting when we have a president there that is supposed to represent good morals and values. She went into the revolting category. Keep that kind of stuff for comedy shows.

Lol, you're hypocrisy is what's comedic.

How so? If Ted Cruz brought in this woman I would say no less. The presidency is supposed to show a higher standard.

You trash on the presidency every chance you get. What are you expecting from a president you hate with every fiber of your being?

He leaves plenty to trash on. But again if Ronald Reagan was reincarnated and did this kind of low class event on democrats I would say the same I said above. Leave that particular trash talk for TV shows and commentator's and the like.

The White House Correspondents Dinner has been a tradition since 1920; Calvin Coolidge was the first President to attend one, in 1924.

In 1983 (while Reagan was President), it became a new custom to use the dinner as a time to roast the President; it's been happening ever since.

This is President Ronald Reagan having tons-o'-fun at the expense of Democrats, after similar political jokes were delivered by that year's comedian-performer, Yakov Smirnoff:

People have had ample opportunity to express their displeasure at this, another Capital Hill tradition; as usual, they didn't take much notice OF it until THIS President participated in it.

*Odd*. AND hypocritical.

She's a current cast member of Saturday Night Live.
Ohhh...no wonder; I don't think I've watched SNL in about a decade or so...

It's definitely not as good as it used to be, but it has it's shining moments. I really love it when she does voice overs for fake product advertisements, like this one:

She has the best voice for it.

Do not have a problem with the dinner and the tradition of fun ribbing. But you really need to listen to the two again and again if you think the two videos are even similar. Specially the guests in the past who speaks in this would have never gone as low or disrespectful as that woman did.

You lost this one Liberty.

While there were jokes before, and Carter was an easy target while Nixon scowled a lot, it was Reagan who turned it into a full on Celebrity Roast.

No way you can call those two videos similar. I know which evening I would not want a young child listening to.

Children are not allowed at the White House Correspondents Dinner.

Reagan was a president in a different era, with different social mores. Presidents can not control social norms, lest they be called "Emperors" and "King-Wannabes", and we know how upsetting THAT *thought* is to some folks.

*Odd* that suddenly some would WANT a POTUS to control social mores as to what's acceptable and what is not. *Odd* AND hypocritical.
