Cell Safety

Anyone who texts whilst driving are complete and utter morons as far as I'm concerned.

I don't know why you'd need to install software to disable texting, that just seems stupid to me.

The bottom line is don't fucking text while driving, it isn't rocket science.

Also, drivers should be using a hands free kit if they really must use their mobile phones while driving. Again, it ain't rocket science.

It's illegal in the UK and has been for some time, yet I often see idiots texting or yapping on their damn phones while driving.

The only way to combat this idiotic practice is to make the penalties for doing it very harsh indeed.

It's too fucking late when some poor innocent bugger has been killed.

Wouldn't you rather someone who cannot control themselves install this software and possibly prevent themselves from killing you or one of your loved ones?

The thing is mate, I assume one would have to activate the software every time they decided to drive. If that's the case, what's the point? Hell, what about having some self control? If someone is determined to text while driving, no amount of software is going to help.

I'm sorry mate, but I don't think it actually does that. If it does, I can't find where it says so.

It said that on the news I was watching on tv but they could have been talking about a different program. They did mention this one though.

If people don't have any selfcontrol over this without the software, then this may make no difference. Someone somewhere'll have hacked it and altered it, or some people might find a way in which to get around it's settings. We shouldn't have to rely on technology to give us selfcontrol. This technology won't stop texting whilst driving. And it doesn't realy tell us how it stops people from texting whilst in the car. If it has some sort of motion sensor, then that means that it won't be able to tell the difference between being in a car and walking. And if it gives an option to tell it that you are in a car, then people'll just lie. Some of thr features I do agree with, but I cannot see how this technology can disable texting whilst driving.

My point is, it may be effective for some people to help them with their problem. If it helps save one life then I am all for it. Just saying People should know better and be against it is one prerogative I suppose though.

Also it can be useful for businesses to prevent their workers from texting and driving on company phones. Nobody will try to hack that because they will get in trouble from their employer for tampering with company property. Nobody is going to risk their job just to send a text while behind the wheel.

I know what you mean, it's just that we shouldn't have to rely on technology to tell us what's wrong.

Nobody is perfect and we all have lapses in our ability to sustain strong will power. If someone goes to their phone and it says No Texting Allowed they can be instantly reminded of their goal to stop texting while driving and get back on track. Think it of the gum or patch for quitting smoking.

Yeah but you don't soley rely on the gum to stop smoking, there is a time in the no-smoking treatment where they have to ditch the gum and use will power.
