Cheers! Brits toast new shatterproof pint glass

Soon Britons will be able to get smashed at the pub while their pint glasses won't.The shatterproof pint glass was proudly unveiled by the government on Thursday. Officials swore the country would save billions in health care costs by coming up with a glass that doesn't double as a lethal weapon.

You say doesn't double as a lethal weapon. I'm sure a glass would be classed as a weapon if used to injure an individual regardless of whether or not it shatters.

That's kinda cool, you hear of a lot of people getting glassed or injured by broken glass over here, so I think it's a good idea and it will make a difference.

Yeah but I think these other ones are better (if money was no object) cos plastic glasses are not as nice to drink out of as normal glasses. IMO

We have had the hard plastic ones for a while. Not the crappy flimsy plastic that you pick your pint up and half of it ends up on the floor :/

Oh we dont have them where I'm from, I dont go up the pub much these days but last time I was out we still had normal glass. And crappy flimsy plastic ones at the place where I go for gigs

Yea. most places have them horrible plastic things, epecially at gigs.

Which is good, cause at one gig I went to, ages ago, there was a massive cup fight

There was a really long wait between the support band and the main band, and everyone on the balconys started throwing their cups and then it just turned insane. Never known any cup fight like it since, they even shut the bar early

Haha. I remember at a festival a while back a massive bottle and cup fight started... Quite funny till you got hit with a plastic bottle

Plastic bottles are lethal when being thrown. I should imagine these 'new' plastic glasses would hurt also.

My sister got hit on the head by a glass bottle at a festival one time.

My god did I go mad. She almost passed out and I was livid.

It was during Marylin Manson, who I like now but hated back then.
