A Chick-fil-A employee in Raleigh, North Carolina, will have a Christmas to remember, thanks to the generosity of her co-workers.

Sheree Carter, 37, has been working at a Chick-fil-A restaurant since Oct. 1 and had just moved into her first home last week after being homeless with two children.

"I don't even think they knew that I was homeless because I didn't show it," Carter told ABC affiliate WTVD in Raleigh of her co-workers.

Carter, who lost her parents and the father of her children, has lived in shelters and temporary housing. She worked hard to provide for her children, ages 15 and 9.

After Carter and her family moved into their apartment last week, the owner of the Chick-fil-A restaurant on Fayetteville Street, Darrena McCulloh, and other co-workers bought furniture, dishes and Christmas presents for the children.

"Just hearing her story and how hard she's worked to provide for her family, we knew it would be the right integrity and ethics that we were looking for to join our team," McCulloh told WTVD.

When asked what she was looking forward to most this Christmas, Carter said, "Seeing my kids' faces, how happy they are," plus they "don't have to worry about where we're going to stay the next day."

Carter called WTVD to show her gratitude to her co-workers, adding, "I'm just overwhelmed with everything, basically, and this is my only way that I could think of thanking them."

To top off the other gifts, McCulloh raised money through co-workers and her church and presented Carter with an envelope of cash to buy the washer and dryer for which Carter was saving.

Thoughts?

Heartwarming story and it's nice to see there are still caring people in this world.

Agreed.

Makes me glad to know that there are still people out there who care about others and that not everyone wants to remain in a situation that they didn't choose to be in. Props to the mother for working hard to get a place for her and her kids.

Plus, makes me want a Chic-Fil-A sandwich that much more!

This is so beautiful.
I hope this is nothing but the beginning of good things to come for herself and her kids!
