Don't they misbehave though with such a high level? I seem to remember needing a certain badge to earn their respect.

They can misbehave at lower levels too... still lvl 100 pokemon can't really screw up as they'll still attack just not the attack you chose

It is. I got that onyx in Crystal and it'd misbehave (before I'd trained it a lot)... it kept using something stupid and got itself killed

Just pick a pokemon with only damaging attacks and there shouldn't be a real problem
