I was meant to start seeing a gay counselor when I was living in the north island but the stupid organization I was through decided I should see a psychologist instead and refused to fund me to see him.

That's the part of insurance I really hate. I had to go through 30 horrible therapists doing everything from telling me I was lying about who I was to trying to "convert" me to just flat out rejecting me. It's awful. So glad I was assigned him, though, he is the first therapist I've really connected with, and when he's talking about the fun he and his husband had, he's so hilarious
Oh absolutely agreed! If they'd take their jobs seriously and treated people like human beings we'd be better adjusted, happier people. Ah well, I'm content being a mental case
I had that, too. I don't know how they get licensed as therapists, they're supposed to be open minded and understanding of all walks of life. Some of the act like you're an absolute alien if you're LGBTQ, it's the most disgusting thing they've ever heard ofOne refused to see me because I'm gay and I took my partner for support. So I walked off and she was yelling my name up the street.. I reported her for discrimination and got written up.
Her excuse was that my partner 'looked' aggressive but he's almost a teddy bear!

I had a friend who was in a graduate program to become a licensed social worker, and she was absolutely appalled by how close-minded and bigoted the other people in the program were. It is so sad that those people choose to go into such occupations.

That is truly sad, it's a position that requires open-mindedness and compassion.
Yeah, they're trying to pass it off as a legitimate sexual orientation now so that they can make the LGBTQ community look just disgusting. They're not even calling them pedophiles anymore, they're "Minor-Attracted Persons," which is just revolting.
And it's becoming OK for a 13 year old to be with a 21 year old.... makes me sick.
