Choosing Staff

How do you choose staff on your forum? Do you allow members to send in applications or do you offer the valued, regular members of your forum the opportunity to join your team?

I pick staff based on who is friendly and helpful with the forum and who are willing to help.

I pick staff from who posts alot and seems to be a good person, that would do a good job.

I dont do applications. I did on FA for reviewers and packagers but thats about it.



I ask the existing staff for recommendations and then make a decision of who I want to ask based on the feedback and my own personal opinion. I dont think anyone has ever said No when I asked them if they wanted to be staff come to think of it.

Ahem! I seem to remember I said no when you asked me mate lol. I hasten to add I only refused because I was far too busy to give the position the time it would deserve.



Anyway, as to the question of choosing staff. I choose those who I trust and think would do the best job based on their knowledge and experience.



Normally I wouldn't invite applications as I'm usually suspicious of anyone who asks to become a staff member.

I comprehend the idea that being a staff member is about investing in the site and placing effort into it however, for me to pick someone to join the staff team will usually happen after they accumulate a combination of posts and all of us garner a liking to him or her.
