Do you think kids should go to a private school ran by a church, teaching all the basics but also teaching about their religion as well?

Or do you think that kids should go to a school that only teaches the basics without any religious influence involved?

I'd say if you're religious and want your kids to be religious, send them to the religious school, but if not send them to the school without religious influence.

Yeah. I think that's okay. If his/her parents are like pastors... private school is probably the safest place because public school kids will be regular kids and making fun of the Christian Kid.

I would say no, I've seen that this has actually had a negative effect on one's religion, my aunt used to go to a school run by nuns, made her completely stop going to church when she left

It is a parent's job to raise their children as they see fit--and instill the values in them that they feel are important. And if they are paying for it out of their own pocket--I don't see that it's really an issue.

I think the public school system should be closed due to a lower quality of education combined with the lowering on tax.

If you saw the Fox News special on schools, there's a Muslim school that teaches Jihad, though :

The middle school I went to was a Chuch of Enland Volentary Controlled School, which was v.good and had brilliant standards.

In our country, private schools are ran quite successfully. Well, Philippines is a Christian-Catholic country, so that is quite not a problem in here anyways. But for other countries, why not? What is important is the education that your child is getting from that certain school, we don't need to always blame religion for everything when it's man's fault anyways.

I agree with you completely Princess but occasionly a private school could be bad too. I still think private schools are better and it should be up to the parents.

Actually, they just let you know ABOUT their religion is all.

I was never forced to accept it at all.

I personally really liked the church run school I went to as a boy many years ago.

Some of the nicest teachers I have ever had or have seen since!

This actually got me into Ghost Hunting as Spirits they teach about are Ghosts - same thing really!

But, back to the question - Yes if it is good! (very good education)

But - the down side is that they are pretty expensive usually.

My school was - christianity is the only way.

Now im Pagan. I believe that children should be taught basics of religion... if any.

In your lifetime you will come across religion and you make your own decision in life. I never knew about any other religion other than christanity when i was at school. I was never taught anything else.

I don't really understand how that is Brainwashing when you have the right in the first place to chose your school. In the second place, they teach their religion and share it with others not force you to learn our religion to the point that they will punish you to death if you don't o_o

I never chose my school. It was chosen for me :/

I was meaning brainwashing in the sense that you arent taught of anything else.

When I was at school it was God did this, God did that, God created the world, There is only one god - Ie the christian god.

I would like to have heard ... In the christian belief god..... blah blah blah.

I didnt actually know of other religions till i had finnished school.

I agree with streetbackguy on this one. If there's such a school near by. Unfortunatley, the only Catholic high school is in Minnesota... 6 hours away.

Which is what parents do. They can only do as they think is best. Whether that includes religious training or not--it's what they feel is best.
