What do you think of the cinema costs near you and what about the cost of food at the cinema?

Since the cinema in town has a new owner, costs have gone down. Not even the snack bar is as much as it was. That's good, I'm glad. The family that owned it before him raised prices through the roof which made me not want to go.

The cost of popcorn is usually more than the ticket price lol. The price goes as high as double the price of the ticket. At least it's something that happens in the PVR and INOX theaters (the big ones here). It might be comparatively lesser in local theaters.

My local theater has an unlimited plan for $25 a month so the price of movies is great. I go to the movies maybe 15 times a month so thats about $1.66 per movie.

If you use their mobile app there is a 0.50 cent charge per movie when you book a ticket (which is what I use 100% of the time), so really its $2.16 a movie. You can avoid the 0.50 cent charge if you go straight to the theater and book your ticket with them directly.

Also I don't really get the food unless I get a free popcorn, which is about once a month. You earn points in their app and when you get to 6000 points, you get a free popcorn or drink or whatever.

I haven't been to a theater since COVID, the cost then just for both of us was a minimum of $60.00, Im sure it has gone up since then.

I'm a Cinemark member for $9.99/mo, which gets one free ticket a month, discounted tickets, and 20% discounted concessions. I usually end up giving my credits and discounts to my children, lol. If you go enough during one calendar year, you earn platinum status for the following year with even bigger discounts and perks.

How much is the discount on tickets?

It think it depends on the movie. For example, my daughter looked up how much it would cost to buy 5 tickets for 5 nights at Freddie's on a weekend evening and her total was $79 (or $15.80 ea.). I opened up my app and put the same 5 seats in my cart and it was $69 (or $13.80 ea.), plus I had 2 tickets in the bank and if i chose to cash them in it would drop to $47.

The previous week her and my wife went to see Taylor Swift, but those tickets were like $25 apiece.

It's all so expensive!! We found a cinema that offers a matinee, so we'll probably go back to that one next time there is a movie we want to really see. We'll also have to sneak in the snacks because it's just too much money otherwise.

Wow are you on one of the monthly plans like AMC Stubs?

I thought about it since it seemed like a great way to watch movies but I didn't know if I could go enough to make it worthwhile ... How do you go 15 a month? Do you get access to all of the first run movies?
