No way in hell would I put a child into our public school system.

A Texas Mom was so “horrified” by what her child’s kindergarten teacher said that she is planning on home-schooling her daughter after Christmas break.

And it should chill other parents to the core — Common Core, that is.

Cassidy Vines recently began noticing a change in her daughter’s behavior. The kindergartener began to “snap” at her mother when she tried correcting the little girll’s homework. “She told me that I was her mommy, not her teacher.”

Mrs. Vines, in a stunning interview on Glenn Beck’s radio program, said that a few days after her daughter first snapped at her, she started pronouncing a word incorrectly. Vines corrected her daughter “in the most gentle way possible,” but her daughter broke down crying, saying “that’s how she was taught, and I can’t tell her something different because I’m a mommy, not a teacher.”

Horrified, she asked her daughter, “Is somebody telling you this at school?”

“She said, ‘Yes, I’m only allowed to learn from my teacher,’” Vines remarked.

I don't think that is part of Common Core, but instead just a really bad teacher.

Agreed. I had a similar issue when I was in elementary school, my teacher continually corrected my "spelling mistakes" that weren't actually wrong. So when my mom looked at my work and saw all the errors she went off on one. Literally stormed into the school and demanded to know why my teacher was trying to sabotage my education. XD

Turned out she was dyslexic. Let that sink in. A dyslexic English teacher. A teacher, unable to read or write correctly, teaching a language.

Thank god that stopped swiftly.

This.  In theory Common Core could work, but when you're dealing with psychopathic individuals who happen to be a teacher or a cop or a politician, it doesn't matter.  Human beings are inherently evil and bad and will do bad things and ruin and stain the blank slate of our youth.

Nowhere in any logical sense could common core work except to make kids absolute and total morons.

This is exactly the kind of teachers they want in our schools teaching the kids. In order to create a generation of kids to follow common core you gotta have socialist teachers like exhibit A.

Or, you know, they press these unattainable standards for every teacher and every student, and the teachers become some disillusioned by the system that they don't give a fuck-all anymore because the people calling the shots are idiots, have never been in a classroom before in their life, and don't know what they're talking about.

Thats works also. Good little drones doing as they are told without any thought. But every now then you get a few true believers like the teachers above to really promote the new agenda.

I am a teacher myself, have been in the classroom before and still teach kids now, have seen the bullshit these amazing people go through for the shit they're accused of and the respect they don't get. It's insane the kind of hog wash the administration tries to pull every time they renew their contracts. Work more for less money! Buy your own supplies! Get paid based on scores in a low socioeconomic environment where the kids are set up to fail regardless of what you do!

So what do you think the solution is? Get rid of the teachers unions? Leave the standards to each individual community and get the big bureaucracy call the federal government out of it? You are right there are great teachers but I have met so many that tell me they retired early because they cannot deal with the system anymore let alone the kids.

God no.  Only if the administration was a group of people who understood what the teacher's face every day, every year they're forced to shove this information down kid's throats who don't learn the same way.  At least then they would have someone fighting for them, but unfortunately the unions have to do it because the people calling the shots (or at least trying to) are complete idiots.  That or an education reform and/or leave it to cities/counties to--within basic and required guidelines for what is necessary--develop their own curriculum.  Unfortunately, there are really great teachers out there who just become disillusioned by the system and the lack of respect from parents, kids, and the administration.
