How do you decipher the difference between someone complaining for the sake of complaining and someone giving honest opinions about how they feel?

You'll know, because one will be constructive, and the other will be bizarre rambling.

IMO, by the wording and tone of the post.

It annoys me when people lable anyone just expressing how they feel as a complainer. Especially in feedback threads. Some people come in and call them a complainer / if you dont like it then GTFO. (usually in a nicer way though)...

Now I know there are people who complain just for the sake of it or to get attention, but some people are genuine. <-- Those ones are talking the time to tell you how the feel because they care.

I usually think just being negative about anything (e.g. Nitpicking) is Complaining but something constructive is opinion

I'd have to agree. I'd go to sites where all you see is non-stop complaining, and then there are people who actually sit down and explain about how they feel.
