A confirmed case of Ebola is being treated by health officials in Glasgow, the Scottish Government said.

The person is a healthcare worker who has just returned from West Africa.

There's usually no clear timeframe for when an Ebola epidemic burns itself out; looking at past outbreaks, we should already be past that point. As for immunity...there's only 2 certain ways to be immune at present (barring potential vaccines): either through natural immunity or through having been infected. In most outbreaks, they usually burn themselves out through medical assistance of those infected and careful back-tracing of contacts over several points of contact; an effective back-tracing of contacts can sometimes slow down and effectively halt an outbreak.
