What I mean by that is that big companies like Sony, Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft etc start buying up all the smaller and medium-sized companies to expand. We saw it with Microsoft and World of Warcraft aka blizzard, now Sony follows up. Are we going to see more of those?

Could we? We are in a very heated company war, a true console war if anything. I didn't think this is how 2022 would start, but I've never seen the gaming world like this, it won't be the same going into 2023.

I really doubt it. There are countless game development companies and gaming publishers, so Sony and Microsoft buying a few doesn't really make a difference.

I thought that they've always been "at war" with each other? I don't really follow these companies too closely myself though.

I think people are misinterpreting Microsoft acquiring these companies. They're not doing it for Xbox, quite the opposite, Microsoft are going back to their roots and looking to become a software powerhouse again as a publisher. The writing has been on the wall for Xbox for a while now, it'll soon be Sony and Nintendo's console game while Microsoft sticks to PC and publishes on Sony and Nintendo's offerings. It's the most logical course forward for them.
