since I didn't see one I thought I would start one, in case anyone doesn't know Cyberpunk started out as a literary genre back in the 1980's but has grown out of that into a whole host of other things and even encroaches on real life!

Literary examples
Almost any book by wiliam gibson who's considered the forefather of cyberpunk
Example: the Sprawl Trilogy (Neuromancer, Count Zero, Mona Lisa Overdrive)
most stories by Bruce sterling
Example (Islands in the net)
the book that inspired second life written by neil stephenson : Snow crash

and this is just the older stuff

Some Media examples include a lot of anime
Example: akira, Ghost in the shell, armitage the third, bubblegum Crisis, serial experiments lain, Psychopass

some movies
Example: The matrix, Johnny Mnemonic (based on a short story by gibson), Blade runner

Tv shows
example: total recall 2070, Tech war, max headroom, Almost human, H+, ect...

Music, well as you might see in the music section the genre known as Synth wave is one example, but there is no specific Cyberpunk music genre, but a lot of content inspired by Cyberpunk, bands include Nine inch nails, Sigue Sigue Sputnik, Dope stars inc, Juno reactor, angle Spit, the list goes on.

Cyberpunk is what inspired steampunk in the first place as well, so if anyone's familiar with steampunk, cyberpunk is the originator of the name and a lot of the concepts.

Cyberpunk has even become a Fashion style with many variations from Cybergoth, to Tech raver, to even myself with big goggles and a trench coat rocking it old school.

there's a lot more info on wikipedia

and here at the Cyberpunk Project Database. a site dedicated to it

anyone else have something to share? go ahead, I would love to see it!

Uh... I liked The Matrix and Bladerunner. :)

Not familiar with the other stuff though :P

Johnny Mnemonic is based off of a short story written by William Gibson! I love him so much, and I love the Sprawl Trilogy as well as his other books (The Bridge Trilogy, etc). I wish I could find more scifi/cyberpunk novels like that, but it's hard when the genre isn't a big one and was only really popular in the 80s.

Also, can we get more info on Cyberpunk 2077, Projekt RED? Seriously, I'm dyin' over here!

another gibsonite! haha, yeah I love those too, ever read Bruce sterling's Islands in the net? I loved that one, same era as the Sprawl trillogy, also I'm really looking forward to Cyberpunk 2077, have you seen this music video that was inspired by it?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpumhuqtlL4

the guy behind it makes lots of music inspired by games and entertainment media.
