Dating apps in 2024

Having 8 kids already and single is a red flag

I never got the appeal of dating apps anyway. It's 2026 and Valentine is near. Anyone still uses them?

No. I de-installed the ones I tried within a few minutes because I immediately got flooded by men wanting "one thing only". And perhaps I should ignore those and go look for other profiles myself, but, really... The flood of messages, horrible. And then I didn't even have a proper profile pic or anything. *sigh*

I'm not looking forward to dating. In the past, I never really had a date (I met my partner through being friends first, through a student group thing), and I honestly don't really know where to start these days. Time is limited with job & 2 kids. Money is limited because ex refuses to pay me what he actually should (half of the house or half a rent for it) - but he did agree at least on paying the kids' studies which is what I really foresee as a future cost I couldn't afford without my half of the house. With those 2 factors to my disadvantage, expensive travels or picking up hobbies aren't really an option, so, where "do I bump into someone I may like"? I'm considering doing some odd jobs here & there when the kids aren't with me to meet people that way, perhaps. Although it may not be a great idea either.
