One of the Delhi bus rapists has said his dead victim was to blame for the rape because ‘decent girls don’t roam around at 9pm’.

Mukesh Singh claims he was driving the bus when a 23-year-old physiotherapy student was violated with metal bars as she travelled home from the cinema with a male friend.

She suffered horrific internal injuries and died two weeks after the attack that shook India and sparked a wave of protests.

But Singh has shocked people by saying ‘girls are far more responsible for rape’ during an interview with the BBC as he awaits execution.

He said: ‘A decent girl won’t roam around at nine o’clock at night. A girl is far more responsible for rape than a boy. Boys and girls are not equal.

‘Housework and housekeeping is for girls, not roaming in discos and bars at night doing wrong things, wearing wrong clothes.

‘About 20 per cent of girls are good.’

He added: ‘When raped, she shouldn’t fight back.

‘She should just be silent and allow the rape. Then they’d have dropped her off after doing her and only hit the boy.’

Singh claims he did not take part in the attack but has been convicted of gang rape along with five others.

BBC Four is airing a documentary on the rape and its impact on March 8.

So what he is really saying is that any female out after 9pm is a target for being raped and to just let it happen. He should be tortured by a gang of woman first before he is executed.

Your thoughts?

He is saying that, but I don't think he honestly believes it.
He's trying to pardon himself, as he clearly is very personality disordered.

Such narcissistic comments. Disgusting.

A think any guy that rapes an innocent woman should be castrated.

What about the girls roaming around at 8:59pm?

This guy is a fool. The only person responsible for the rape is the rapist. Duh.

Welcome to the kind of thinking that dominates that region. Woman are a object to be done with ad they please with so many countries east of Europe. And soon Europe also.

Has that even been proven 'beyond all reasonable doubt'?

In a court of law? Nope...and w/the statute of limitations in most jurisdictions, probably never will.
In the court of public opinion? Most likely - and unfortunately - yes.

@TRUELIB: Eradicate patriarchal aspects of respective cultures, remind them of women's rights in an Isllamic contexts
. Boom, problem solved. The rights and status given to women in Islam 1400 years ago were considered very dangerous and threatening ideas at the time. I mean, equality? Who in their right mind...
Alhamdulillah.

@Webster: And I emphasise, 'beyond all reasonable doubt'.

That's why I split the difference up there...unfortunately, most people go by the court of public opinion rather than a court of law in forming their opinions, which is pretty much why Bill Cosby's name will likely forever be mud...

Sounds good but it seems far to many people in Islam are to scared to speak out about such things.

True, one person scared to speak up about this is too many. Then you have culture playing a part, many Muslim majority areas are patriarchal to an unislamic extent, causing fear of breaking the status quo. But for every Muslim who isn't, there's a Muslim who is.
