^ background info on this discussion topic.

So what is really going on? Is the novel in any real danger or likely to expire?

As long as there are authors I can't see that happening. I love novels, so I'll continue to buy them!

Thats good that you are doing your part! If people were like me, the novel would die off because I never buy books.

I guess technology might kill the printed book.

Just like Moving Pictures were supposed to kill the Theater.

And TV was supposed to kill Movies, and the radio as well.

Speaking of which, did you see that "Power..." was out on a Kindle edition?

Same here. The authors will continue to write novels and I will continue to buy them. The world of technology needs to realize that not everyone can afford an electronic device to read a novel. I don't really see the death of the printed version.

The printed form is always gonna be around. Sure digital is handy, but not everyone afford the means to have that.

I'm pretty confident those electronic readers are cheaper than actual books. The initial investment is high, but the actual books are cheaper. At some point you'll reach an equilibrium and after that... profit.

Anyway, VR might kill physical books, but until then, I'll happily purchase my share of physical books. Oh and I doubt novels are really going anywhere.
