What's one product that you had high hopes for, but was devastatingly disappointing when you finally used/bought it?

We were given a "Clear TV" antenna.

Yes, the one from the commercial with the pretty woman hyping how its the best thing to happen to your Television since MASH went off the air.

It didn't work any better than the old rabbit ear thing I found at a yard sale for a dollar.

BUT! It does have a transformer that plugs into the wall and constantly draws power whether you are watching TV or not.

After a week, it went back in the box.

ProActiv.

It was supposed to eliminate acne, but once I used it, my acne got worse.

Now I refuse to use it, and it was garbage. Currently, I have light acne that can easily be cured.

My ex-boyfriend, by far, was my most disappointing investment.

I don't buy anything relatively expensive without reading other peoples reviews on it online first or checking what I should know before choosing which to buy or asking the seller if something is unclear. Other than that, I don't buy anything without getting my hands on the product first. So, I don't have anything that's disappointed me after I've used whatever I purchased.

I recently purchased a full face crash helmet from a dealer via Amazon for a good budget price of £55, with free P&P (very cheap, considering similar lids go for £150 upwards).
However, when it arrived, despite the measurement of 66cm (my size on a loose fitting) being given, when I went to try it on it I could hardly get it on, and then it was even more difficult to get it off - so much so that I was starting to panic that I might have to go to the hospital to get it removed, but I eventually got it off.

Fortunately, the dealers weren't any problem whatsoever & it went back the next day for a full refund, minus £7 to cover their initial P&P (which had been free on the purchase, but that they charge for returns), less the £3.20 that I had to pay to send it via My Hermes courier (clearly a lot cheaper than their courier service). So all in all, I ended up £10.20 out of pocket, and still no crash helmet.

My current smartphone. I thought Android 2.3 was impressive, but after seeing it can't be upgraded beyond that, it's the most disappointing thing I ever bought.
