Divorce

My mom and my biological dad got married right out of high school - he was going into the army and stuff. I was born when my mom was 19. They got a divorce when I was about 3, I guess. Not real sure when...my mom and dad got married later after that. About a year ago, the fighting that had gone on for a while had gotten worse and they split around March '09. I'm not sure if the divorce has gone through or not...I'm pretty sure. My dad is engaged to a girl old enough to be my sister.

I know before anyone complains, I'm going to talk gay for a moment. So if you don't like it then don't read my post.

You know what's funny, is that most gay couples don't divorce. They must be doing something right.

My aunt has cancer and she is a mother.

That's because most gay couples don't get married...

Also, for the ones that do get married, it's only been legalized in some places in the last couple of years. Before we can make any accurate statistics, we need to give the first generation of gay marriages time to divorce.

My parents were married for 45 years--they didn't divorce. My husband was married once before, which ended in divorce.

When we got married, we knew we didn't want a divorce--so we have yet to get one.

That doesn't mean that it's been all moonlight and roses--it's been more thunderstorms and thorns than anything. But, you have to be willing to work things through. That won't work in every case, but divorce should be the final solution--as opposed to the first answer.

Each person in the relationship has to listen to the other, and be willing to work through what the issue is. We've come close to divorce once--but we kept working and managed to work through it.

That being said, I don't think that anyone should stay with someone who abuses them--emotionally or physically. That should be something that is worked on (if you choose to) from a distance. You should never put yourself or your children at risk.

Yes. My parents have been divorced for over 23 years. My father cheated and left on my mother and I've never seen him since, so I was raised by my step father who my mother married a few years later. Never knew my real father, I'm afraid.

My mom is currently in the process of divorcing her second husband and for good reason. He was/is an abusive piece of shit who needs to stick a gun in his mouth and pull the trigger. The world would be much better off without him existing in it.
