Kind of my position, too. I am an agnostic on most metaphysics, meaning I don't think questions like this or "Is there a God?" are provable and rely more on belief than rational or empirical "proof". So I do not have believe in an afterlife, but I don't reject the idea either. It's simply not something I currently believe in but I can't really say with certainty that there is not one either.I can't imagine just exactly how it works. Just have to wait and see, I reckon.
Which says nothing about whether there is an afterlife, just that the Church is run by evil colonialist imperialists. Lots of people have believed, and do believe, in an afterlife without being either Catholic or even Christian.I used to believe in life after because I was raised Catholic and they brainwashed it into me. When I was about ten I read about the inquisition and the conquering of the Americas by the Spanish. So much for a loving God!!!

Sorry, I screwed up my post, it should have read, "I used to believe in an afterlife because I was raised Catholic and they brainwashed it into me. When I was about ten I read about the inquisition and the conquering of the Americas by the Spanish. So much for a loving God!!!"
Sorry I hit enter before the rest of this post was done so i'll have to do it again when I wake up. It's almost three am and I have to get my beauty sleep.

Oh, we don't have those in Canada (yet). Just usurious "probate fees" on the value of the estate. You forgot the government and its "inheritance tax" on whatever they get.
Damn....they've got a hand in everything. You forgot the government and its "inheritance tax" on whatever they get.
What does the actions of Men have to do with the Love of God?
Did you know that thousands of years ago a bunch of Jews were sitting around a fire drinking beer and smoking pot when one of them said, "Hey let's write a book and screw up mankind for the rest of eternity" and thus the Bible was created
Again, nothing to do with the existence of God or an afterlife. Whether or not there is a God, religion is a human creation. You can't really blame God for our failings. And belief in God and an afterlife are not just Christian beliefs in any case so your (justifiable, by the way) slamming of the behaviour of Christians is kind of beside the point of this thread as I already pointed out.Did you know that thousands of years ago a bunch of Jews were sitting around a fire drinking beer and smoking pot when one of them said, "Hey let's write a book and screw up mankind for the rest of eternity" and thus the Bible was created.
It's obvious that the actions of men are influenced by their interpretations of the Bible and this is how American Christians treated their fellow Americans, the Mormons.
Missouri Executive Order 44 (known as the Mormon Extermination Order) issued on October 27, 1838 by the governor at the time.
Below is an excerpt from Missouri Executive Order 44 (known as the Mormon Extermination Order) issued on October 27, 1838 by the governor at the time.
"Claiming that Mormons had committed open and avowed defiance of the law and had made war upon the people of Missouri, Governor Boggs directed that "the Mormons must be treated as enemies, and must be "exterminated" or driven from the State if necessary for the public peace—their outrages are beyond all description."

This article is the 1838 Mormon War which somewhat gives the reasons those fine American Christians wanted to commit Mormon genocide.

Take what can be interpreted as fantasy or meaningless it wouldn't be a very thick book.
