Tell us how you’d define “good manners.” Is it knowing proper etiquette when you’re in a restaurant? Saying “please” and “thank you”? Being kind and thoughtful of others? Do you think having good manners is important? How would you rate your own manners? Do you think our society in general is becoming less civil and more rude? Why or why not?

I was taught good manners. The key word there is taught. Parents, for whatever reason, don't teach their children good manners these days. It's become a society (not everyone but most) where people are out for themselves. No please or thank you involved. When's the last time someone actually held a door open for you or offered to help you with heavy packages? When's the last time someone said 'please' or 'thank you'? I say these things all the time because, again, I was taught to do so.

Manners are a personality trait that I think can be self taught despite what environment they grew up in or what parents they have. It depends on the person.

I do in most situations. TBH sometimes ppl find me rude or lacking in manners but it's because I'm socially awkward and is not intentional.

I get that all the time too! :|

I was never taught good manners I just seem to do it automatically and just doing things like opening doors for someone or helping a person lift something heavy into their car or things like that or using kind words like please and thank you doesn't cost you anything or take that much extra time out of your day.

Having good manners is just that, having good manners. It's all of the above and then some. Yes, I consider myself a well-mannered person.
