Do you speak any other languages?

There are some that would say I'm barely literate in English. Although I can speak passable American.



I know no Spanish, I even have trouble at that Taco place, although I took two years of it in High School.



I know no German, although I took a year of it in college.



I know no French even though I had a friend that spoke it fluently and tried to teach me some.



I know no Latin, even though I study theology and all of the really good stuff is in Latin.



I know no Mandarin even though that's what is for lunch today.



I know no Hebrew or Yiddish even though they are my family.



I know no Cherokee although I am of them by blood.



So it goes.

I speak English and Bahasa Malaysia (Malay). I do understand Mandarin, Cantonese, Hokkien, and a little bit of Tamil. I can say short and simple sentences in Mandarin and Cantonese but can't have a good conversation.
